Summary

 

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Manager will be responsible in assisting the execution of comprehensive external and internal communications programs and initiatives that advance both the reputation and the strategic plan of the university. This position will be responsible for the creation and support of content that promotes the Regis brand to internal and external audiences utilizing key messaging points and compelling storytelling.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Assist the Vice President of Marketing and Communications in the implementation of the department’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure communication initiatives are implemented in alignment with the university’s strategic plan; act as a leader in moving the communication strategy forward.
  • Create engaging content that reflects events happening at the university and highlights key differentiators that can be shared on a variety of communications platforms.
  • Research and create compelling content about students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Build relationships with various internal departments and staff members to generate content ideas.
  • Using HubSpot, creates, disseminates and assesses the impact of weekly internal messages to inform university community of events and news.
  • Assess current internal communications platforms and provide ways to streamline the dissemination of campus news. Institute best practices for internal communications that will provide alternatives to e-mail.
  • Through weekly meetings, works closely with various communication staff including admission, institutional advancement, and athletics to ensure consistent messaging and brand integrity.
  • Attends weekly Director’s Meeting, then reports information to the MarComm team.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to raise awareness of on-campus events and news.
  • Provides graphic design services to support communications and marketing initiatives. Including designing materials for web, print, social, collateral, signage (physical and digital) and more. Serve as the in-house designer; manages the print vendor.
  • Manages non-academic institutional website content.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of student achievements through Merit.
  • Provides HubSpot support.

 

Other Responsibilities

 

  • Occasional night and weekend hours depending on university event schedule.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

 

  • Student worker(s).
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Regis College’s policies and applicable laws.

 

Qualifications

Requirements

 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or related major.
  • A strong understanding and at least two years of experience with HubSpot and Adobe InDesign.
  • 3+ years of experience in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or higher education.
  • Ability to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience writing for websites and social media required. Understanding of best practices in graphic design and website editing a plus.
  • Experience in the utilization of new online tools, social media platforms and technologies.
  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to be a hands-on contributor and collaborator who can multitask and work well with other members of the communications team.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

 

  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
  • Regularly uses computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
