About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Communications Manager (Contractor) to help strengthen Mikva Challenge’s digital presence and brand consistency across platforms during a key transition period. The contractor will manage day-to-day social media operations, refine design tools and templates, design and create collateral, coordinate communication workflows, and support the early stages of a website redesign process.
Location: This is a fully remote contract role, engaging with staff and stakeholders through virtual platforms.
Duration: 4–6 months
Hours: 10–20 hours per week
Rate: $40–$45 per hour, depending on experience and geographic location
Scope of Work
Social Media Management
- Develop and maintain a social media calendar aligned with organizational priorities, events, and campaigns.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content (graphics, videos, posts) for Mikva Challenge’s social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.).
- Monitor engagement and respond to direct messages and comments in a timely and brand-focused manner.
- Track key metrics and provide monthly engagement summaries with recommendations for improving reach and audience growth.
- Collaborate with staff to source stories, visuals, and youth voices for digital storytelling.
- Produce high-quality written and visual content for multiple channels, including but not limited to: the website, social media, newsletters, collaterals, and annual reports that clearly convey the organization’s mission.
Graphic Design & Brand Tools
- Review current communication templates and update them for clarity, accessibility, and ease of use across departments.
- Create and refine visual assets as needed (social graphics, flyers, one-pagers, event visuals) following brand standards.
- Maintain a shared library of brand templates and ensure staff have access to current, editable versions.
- Provide light technical support to staff on using templates and maintaining visual/brand consistency.
Internal Communications Workflow (Monday Board)
- Oversee the communications request system in Monday.com, following established standard operating procedures.
- Set up initial meetings with staff to discuss submitted requests, clarify project needs, and manage follow-ups through email or Monday.com updates.
- Track progress and ensure communications deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
Website Redesign Support
- Work with the website redesign vendor to develop and distribute a staff survey to gather feedback on current website usability, content, navigation, and end-user experience.
- Coordinate communication and scheduling between the vendor and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain organized documentation of feedback, assets, and decisions for use throughout the redesign process.
- Develop and manage an apparatus to gather content for the website from throughout the organization, and develop content if it is missing.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or digital media (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging social content and manage multiple digital platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and design skills with attention to visual storytelling and brand alignment.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Monday.com, Meta Business Suite, and Google Workspace.
- Experience with WordPress or other CMS tools a plus.
- Excellent organization, communication, and follow-through in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
