Pay Rate: $20/ HR

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), or The EX as it is also known, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top five agricultural fairs in North America. Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day Monday, the CNE offers a wide variety of interactive entertainment experiences. Attractions may include concerts, celebrity chef demonstrations, an acrobatic and ice skating show, midway rides and games, a farm, exhibits, food, shopping, and a three-day Air Show. Founded in 1879, the CNE is a cherished tradition for the people of Toronto and surrounding communities and attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.

Get hands on experience and a behind-the-scenes look at some of our event attractions and interactive entertainment experiences including: concerts, midway rides and games, shopping, exhibits, tech and gaming hubs, food and wacky treats!


Job Overview

Reporting to both the Director, and Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Assistant, Marketing & Communications’ role will be to assist in implementing the annual marketing plan and the overall goals and objectives of the CNEA.

Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide administrative support to the Marketing and Communications team
  • Assist in the development of draft content for the CNE website for approvals
  • Assist in drafting and preparation of all CNE Newsletter content
  • Draft the Homepage schedule for the CNE website
  • Assist in the coordination of Web/Digital content with the various departments within the organization
  • Support the lead of HorseCapades & Pre-fair agriculture programming i.e., maintaining HorseCapades database & reservations, mailing, updating forms and supporting the development of collateral
  • Update and maintain the annual programming overview
  • Assist in the writing, editing, and proofing of all CNE materials
  • Organize and maintain the department’s digital photo library and photo release forms with the official CNE Photographer
  • Liaise with photographers and videographers
  • Process invoices and work orders
  • Maintain the department’s budget monitor
  • Arrange for the department’s radios, golf carts, uniforms and stationery
  • Assist in the organization of the Opening Day Ceremonies & Media Day as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Special Conditions

  • Comfortable working in areas that may contain bright lights, loud noises and crowds of people.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. (Must be available for all 18 days of the CNE from August 15th to September 1st, 2025.)


What you Bring to the Team

  • Must have a G2 or G drivers licence
  • Post-secondary education (focus in special events, marketing, communication, public relations) OR equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for marketing, storytelling, and event execution 
  • Must be detail oriented 
  • Proficiency in slide and presentation development 
  • Basic graphic design skills are an asset (i.e., Canva, Photoshop, etc.)  
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
