    TEMPORARY - Communications Intern (Part-Time)
     
    Job Title: TEMPORARY - Communications Intern (Part-Time)
    Reports To: Communication Director/Community Engagement Director
    Classification: Temporary
    Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt
    Days: Start Date: To Be Determined
    Salary: See Compensation Plan - Temporary

    Primary Purpose: Spring Branch ISD seeks a communications intern interested in gaining experience in a fast-paced public school district environment.
    The ideal candidate is interested in advancing their skills and working in the SBISD Communication and Community Engagement Division to assist in the development/production of written and multimedia content and in programming planning and support for the upcoming school year.
    Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:
    • High school student enrolled in broadcast journalism, print journalism or yearbook with two letters of recommendation (required) OR College student majoring in journalism, marketing, communications, or broadcast with two letters of recommendation (required).
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication.
    • Superb organizational skills.
    • Proficient in the use of technology.
    • Eager to learn.
    • Enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated.
    • Ability to work quickly with accuracy.
    • Can adhere to deadlines under time constraints
    • Team-oriented communicator.
    • Creative thinker.
    Other (Preferred Experience):
    • Writing in AP style.
    • Pre- and post-video production.
    • Social media management.
    Major Duties and
    Responsibilities:
    Communications Support:
    • Perform the following tasks: writing and copy editing.
    • Film and edit high-quality video.
    • Organize digital assets.
    • Process photography and video.
    • Support operational and programming logistics.
    • Work collaboratively within the SBISD team.
    Other:
    • Responsible for adhering to SBISD policies and procedures.
    • Expected to dress and work professionally.
    • Work on any assigned special projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Supervisory
    Responsibilities:
    None
    Equipment Used: Computer and various office equipment.
    Working Conditions:  Mental Demands:
    • Maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Work with frequent interruptions.
    • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
    Physical Demands:
    • Repetitive hand motions.
    • Prolonged use of computer.
    • Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
    • Frequent walking, and/or standing.
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
