Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a full time (37.5 hours) Communications Manager. Applicant MUST reside in the state of Ohio. 

 

SUMMARY

 

The Communications Manager coordinates and implements programs designed to increase the number of reproductive health activists statewide. This position involves time spent organizing and advocating on behalf of PPGOH and PPAO in capacities related to 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PPVO. Must reside in Columbus, OH or within 20 miles of the Ohio Statehouse within 2 weeks of offer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans for digital organizing and engagement (email, SMS, blog posts, social media graphics, video, etc.) to effectively reach current and expand supporter base.

  • Draft copy for PPAO & Planned Parenthood Votes Ohio (PPVO) communications.

  • Responsible for copywriting, documenting, and supporting advocacy and electoral work through email, text, social media, newsletters, and any additional communications.

  • Create and maintain customer relationship management (CRM) communications calendar.

  • Write reports that analyze ad placements as well as email, text, and social media strategies

  • Oversee and guide team in defining, tracking, analyzing, and reporting on metrics and analytics to understand reach.

  • Own approvals for all PPAO social media platforms and websites.

  • Support recruitment of supporters, action fund members, online activists, and volunteers.

  • Facilitate training of PPAO volunteers or members of the public who want to dedicate their time to digital advocacy.

  • Create, edit, update, connect, and share effective calls to action on digital platforms managed by PPAO.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the Social Media Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to reproductive health care, rights, social justice issues, and objectives of PPGOH and PPAO.

  • Previous experience in grassroots campaigns.

  • Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation, and image) skills and the ability to move people to action.

  • Skilled in Canva

  • Deep understanding of messaging across audiences and mediums with an ability to match content and tone accordingly.

  • Ability to create and execute digital campaigns that complement field activities.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects and events.

  • Strong computer skills, including database and internet proficiency.

  • Proficiency in the strategic use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms, as well as social media management systems.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Suite, and EveryAction or other CRMs.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in situations dealing with sexuality

and reproductive healthcare choices.

  • Build and maintain positive and productive relationships while collaborating between departments.

  • Must be self-directed with ability to work collaboratively and independently in both remote and in person environments.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

  • At least 2 years of experience in campaigns or non-profits working with community members and volunteers

  • 1 year of experience in community and online organizing and the ability to mentor others in digital organizing skills.
