POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Content and PR Specialist for Optima Tax Relief, LLC (“Optima”) / Debtmerica is located in the Santa Ana, California office and reports to the Senior Director, Communications. This role will be a key contributor in shaping Optima’s public voice and online presence and will be responsible for creating, editing, and distributing high-impact written content across multiple platforms. Work will span blog articles, web content, PR, SEO optimization, email marketing, and more—helping Optima engage its audience, establish thought leadership, and enhance its brand reputation. The ideal candidate will have established media relationships and will leverage their existing network of media contacts to amplify our brand presence and drive strategic PR initiatives that support our business objectives. This role must also champion Optima’s culture and Core Values and help to deliver the best customer experience. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Research industry-related topics and trends in tax and finance.
  • Write and publish high-quality content including: Blog posts, social media content, press releases, website copy, SEO articles, white papers, case studies, & more.
  • Conduct internal interviews and incorporate insights into compelling stories.
  • Develop content for various channels/platforms that positions Optima as the authority on tax issues, on tax relief and resolution. (i.e. Thought-Leader articles).
  • Write five in-depth, researched, and extensive tax related blog articles per week.
  • Edit and proofread all written materials for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Online Community and SEO Specialist to optimize content according to SEO guidelines.
  • Work with the Social Media and Online Engagement team to develop content for platforms (TikTok, Reddit, etc.) and monitor engagement (e.g. comments and shares).
  • Monitor web traffic to content (e.g., bounce rates, conversions).
  • Update websites via WordPress, including metadata optimization.
  • Develop original content for monthly Optima email newsletter as well as any updates to template and layout as needed.
  • Assist with content for email campaigns as necessary.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and influencers; existing connections are a plus.
  • Pitch compelling story angles and press releases to targeted media outlets across print, digital, broadcast, and online platforms. 
  • Serve as primary media contact and spokesperson for assigned accounts or initiatives. 
  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media events.
  • Create and source guest content to support Optima’s blog and third-party placements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of existing website content and suggest updates.
  • Compile data and write content for various company award submissions.
  • Coordinate quarterly department meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Communications.
  • Follow company protocols to ensure the highest level of security to protect the client Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Other duties as assigned.

In order to be provided the essential training required to be successful in this role, it is mandatory that you are present for and complete all essential/initial training onsite for up to 5 business days (unless prior management approval is provided). Please note that additional onsite training may be required depending on business need.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in content marketing, PR, or journalism.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio of published content.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization.
  • Experience with WordPress content management system.
  • Experience with writing content for the tax or finance industry a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
