🇯🇵 Investor Relations – Japan Coverage
Greenstone Equity Partners is expanding across Asia and we are hiring an Investor Relations professional focused on Japan. This is a high-impact, front-office fund placement role responsible for distributing global private market funds to Japanese institutional and professional investors.
You will act as Greenstone’s on-the-ground coverage lead for Japan, building deep relationships with LPs and driving fundraising execution for a select portfolio of private equity, private credit, real assets, infrastructure, and other alternative strategies.
🌏 Key Responsibilities
Fund Placement & Sales
- Lead the placement and distribution of assigned private market funds across Japan.
- Execute fundraising campaigns and drive toward placement targets.
- Build market-specific sales strategies with Fund Managers and internal regional teams.
- Identify relevant Japanese LPs—including pensions, insurers, banks, securities firms, trust banks, gatekeepers, and family offices—and match them to suitable products.
- Deliver compelling fund pitches, articulating strategy, track record, and key differentiators.
- Lead Japan-focused roadshows, investor meetings, and FM-led sessions.
- Manage a full fundraising pipeline: sourcing, pitching, follow-ups, call notes, documentation, and closing.
- Work with investors to uncover DDQ, ODD, and investment committee requirements and support smooth subscription execution.
- Maintain accurate CRM entries and provide regular pipeline reporting to senior leadership.
Investor Coverage & Intelligence
- Develop a deep understanding of Japan’s allocator ecosystem, their mandates, processes, and decision-makers.
- Expand Greenstone’s network by sourcing new institutional and family office relationships.
- Maintain detailed intelligence on Japanese LP programs, allocations, interests, and fund preferences.
Product Fit & Market Feedback
- Provide structured market feedback to Greenstone’s mandate sourcing team regarding product fit for Japan.
- Participate in market studies and product positioning for new strategies under consideration.
Compliance
- Adhere to all regional private placement regulations and internal compliance requirements.
- Maintain clean practices, documentation standards, and attend mandatory training as required.

We are looking for someone commercially strong, intellectually sharp, and genuinely passionate about capital raising in Japan. The ideal candidate will have:
Essential
- Direct experience selling funds or financial products to Japanese institutional investors
(pensions, insurers, trust banks, securities firms, gatekeepers, or family offices).
- Strong understanding of Japan’s allocator landscape, decision-making processes, and relationship dynamics.
- Experience in fund placement, institutional sales, capital raising, or investor relations.
- Fluency in Japanese (must) and strong business English.
- A relationship-driven mindset with the resilience to manage multi-month fundraising cycles.
- Ability to run a structured sales process and handle multiple pipelines simultaneously.
Preferred
- Experience distributing alternative investment strategies (PE, credit, infra, secondaries, real assets).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate private markets concepts clearly.
- Work ethic, integrity, and a self-starter mentality with the ability to collaborate with global teams.
