Position Description:
The Junior Design and Communications Specialist will play a key dual role in our creative team - supporting both graphic design and copywriting initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys switching between visual and written communication tasks. You'll work on a variety of projects including training materials, digital campaigns, video scripts, presentations, print collateral, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Graphic Design
- Design marketing materials including digital ads, social media graphics, email templates, presentations, and print collateral.
- Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize unique ideas.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all design work in accordance with brand standards.
- Copywriting & Content
- Write clear, engaging, and accurate marketing copy for a variety of channels, including websites, email campaigns, blogs, video scripts, print materials and more.
- Edit and proofread content to ensure grammatical accuracy and adherence to AP Style.
- Adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms while maintaining brand voice.
- Assist in campaign messaging and content strategy as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the marketing managers and creative teams to support integrated campaigns.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to gather information and understand project goals.
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; Premiere Pro a plus).
- Capable of utilizing design principles like balance, alignment, contrast, repetition, and hierarchy to create visually appealing and easy-to-understand layouts.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a solid understanding of AP Style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Familiarity with web design platforms (e.g., WordPress, Figma).
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., monday.com, Asana).
- Basic understanding of SEO and digital marketing best practices.
- Video editing skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably within an agency or marketing team.
