Description

Our mission

Climate change is causing deep uncertainty at all levels of society, with climate volatility reducing the security of all land-based assets and posing a multi-level security threat for the functioning of enterprises, societies, and governments.

Mitiga is a spinoff of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe.

Mitiga's mission is firmly rooted in employing cutting-edge science and technology to mitigate the multifaceted risks posed by climate-driven perils. Our approach spans a spectrum of temporal scales, from real-time and annual forecasts to projections spanning the next century. This comprehensive perspective on risk, coupled with our capacity to transfer risks to capital markets via catastrophe bonds, positions us to significantly contribute to enhanced climate mitigation, resilience, and equity.

And we need you.

We’re looking for a Social Media & Communications Specialist to take the lead on our external voice on social media and support our broader PR and brand efforts. You’ll create thought-provoking, engaging content that elevates Mitiga’s leadership in the climate risk space, while helping us manage media outreach, events, and executive visibility.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong writing background, a strategic mindset, and experience in B2B or science-driven environments. You’ll report to the Director of Marketing and work closely with product, data, and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

Social media & thought leadership

  • Own and manage the social media content calendar across Mitiga and key executive profiles

  • Write and publish engaging posts that reflect our tone, voice, and leadership in climate risk

  • Ghostwrite and refine thought leadership content for our leadership team and subject matter experts

  • Monitor performance and use analytics to optimize reach, engagement, and follower growth

  • Maintain and evolve our social media style guide and brand voice documentation

PR & communications

  • Draft and edit press releases, media bios, speaker abstracts, and op-eds

  • Research media contacts and support proactive media outreach and relationship building

  • Coordinate responses to inbound press opportunities and interview requests

  • Help shape Mitiga’s messaging in key climate, science, and innovation conversations

  • Manage press asset libraries, talking points, and Q&A documents

Events & brand operations

  • Support logistics and communications around events, dinners, and conference appearances

  • Prepare promotional materials, social coverage, and post-event recaps

  • Collaborate with product, commercial, and executive teams to align messaging and visibility

  • Ensure all event-related messaging is on-brand and audience-appropriate

  • Amplify event and PR moments across our social and owned channels

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in B2B marketing, comms, content, or PR

  • Native-level English in writing and editing skills

  • A strong portfolio of social or editorial content

  • Understanding of LinkedIn and social best practices for thought leadership

  • Experience supporting PR campaigns, journalist outreach, or event comms

  • Comfort working across teams and juggling multiple priorities

  • Bonus: knowledge of the climate, science, ESG, or tech space

You’ll be a great fit if you

  • Know how to simplify complex ideas into clear, compelling stories

  • Balance creativity with a data-driven mindset; you test, measure, and iterate

  • Can work autonomously, but love collaborating and learning from others

  • Get energy from shaping how a growing brand shows up in the world

  • Are excited by Mitiga’s mission and want to help us drive global impact

Diversity

A recent study shows that one in every 10 tech workers in Spain are women. Only 8% of all contracts in 2019 with people with disabilities were in technology and science. Meanwhile, 30% of LGTBIQ people in Spain do not come out in the workplace for fear of discrimination.

This is neither the world we want to live in nor the workplace we’re building.

Mitiga is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

In fact, we strongly encourage applicants from minority groups to apply.

Our offer

Our vision is to be the place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come, to stay and do their best work. Some of our benefits, like unlimited personal time or flexible working arrangements, help work adjust to your life – and not the other way around. You can work from home or come twice a week to our office in the heart of Barcelona. Dogs and other furry friends are welcome!

Our compressed work schedule allows you to work half a day on Fridays during the year (so you can start the weekend early). During the summer, it also allows you to work 4 days a week, so you spend time with your loved ones (or work on your tan). Shadow our leadership and participate in our structured feedback and mentorship programs. If you grow, we grow.

Don't see a fitting open role? Fill out this form and we will get back to you if an opportunity matching your profile comes up!
